There is still time to participate in the 1st phase of Rotuaari field trials and test new mobile services!
In the first field trials of the Rotuaari project, lasting until the end of September, test users get access to a PDA device, with which they can receive mobile advertisements provided by Oulu shopkeepers, use map-based guidance to find the stores and other locations that they are looking for, and use Time Machine Oulu to take a look at the centre of Oulu as it was in the 19th century. The services are operable in the coverage area of a wireless local area network (WLAN) built in Oulu City Centre. Use of the services is free of charge.
The field-testing is coordinated from a field office situated in a lighthouse in the northern end of Rotuaari Pedestrian Street, where volunteers may borrow PDA devices and give feedback on the service. The office is open from Monday to Friday between 1 and 7 p.m. and on Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The PDA devices are not given out for loan during the last opening hour.
Everyone who has given written feedback will be offered coffee and bun.
