MFO Showroom opened at Tietomaa

MFO Showroom was opened on February 26th in Tietomaa, the Oulu Science Centre, to exhibit the research in the field of mobile telecommunications technology. MP Erkki Pulliainen was present at the opening, among others.

MFO Showroom is an exhibition put together by Mobile Forum Oulu, which is an extensive program for the research and development of mobile technology and the business around it. The program consists of several projects dealing with visions for future mobile communications and development of mobile device prototypes.

The history of the field is also exhibited in MFO Showroom, and there is an exceptionally comprehensive exhibition of terminal devices as well.

The Showroom is also a forum for presenting products to the audience and the customers, as well as making experiments and performing usability studies. With the help of these studies, it is possible to gather feedback straight from the users and take this feedback into account in product development and marketing. The usability studies are the responsibility for Oulu University researchers.

MediaTeam Oulu is deeply involved with the Showroom and with Mobile Forum Oulu, the executive group of which is chaired by MediaTeam director Jaakko Sauvola. MFO Showroom is directed by Timo Ojala, assistant director at MediaTeam. Among other things, the Showroom exhibits two MediaTeam projects included in the Mobile Forum Oulu program (Princess and Red Skins).

MFO Showroom is exhibited on the first floor of Tietomaa Science Centre. The admission to the exhibition is free, and the Showroom is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
